Wedding Season

It is Summer on the Coast and we are busily creating beautiful memories at Sand Rock Farm hosting Weddings large, and small with couples from near and far.
Planning a wedding is challenging and couples may spend a year or more between settling on a specific site and arranging all the details. Every wedding is a happy event and every one unique; whether several hundred guests or just two attend. A couple may bring friends and family and visit many times throughout a year working with us to plan their special day. A couple may not visit Sand Rock Farm until the Wedding and do all their planning with us online.
Just such a wedding was celebrated last month with a delightful bride and groom and each of their parents. What made it particularly special is that they are all from Wisconsin, had never been to California and definitely not to Sand Rock Farm.
They arrived on a Thursday, stopped to pick up a wedding license and then the three couples made their way here. After wandering the property, the bride and groom selected a special spot under the redwoods for their ceremony.
They did not come all this way and not want to visit Monterey, the ocean, the wineries, the redwoods. Friday was spent discovering our Central Coast. What a difference from their Wisconsin summer!
Of course the crowning touch to the weekend was the lovely ceremony on Saturday with just the parents and the wedding couple. A celebratory glass of champagne and a slice of cake and then off to dinner.

What a lovely event – so personal…thank you for posting this story as a kind reminder that the celebration of a marriage is and should be exactly what the bride and groom want, not what family or society dictates they “must have” – how nice it must have been for the six of them to actually enjoy each other and celebrate this union. I am Greek and Italian and it seems BIG is the only way my family knows how to do things – it’s inspiring to hear about their special day. And as a bonus to visit northern California, the coast, the redwoods and to cap it all off…the San Rock Farm!
